The Makiling Botanic Gardens presents “Hongkong Tree” as the Plant of the Month of December. Its scientific name is Bauhinia blakeana Dunn. Hongkong tree is also known as Butterfly Tree that belongs to family Fabaceae. It is native of China (Hong Kong) and India. It is named after Sir Henry Blake, the Governor of Hong Kong from 1898 to 1903 who was also very avid plant enthusiast.
