MOU for the Delineation and Demarcation of the MMFR Boundary, Ratified

The University of the Philippines Los Banos (UPLB) and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region IV-A signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the project entitled “Delineation and Demarcation of the Boundary of Mount Makiling Forest Reserve” on 12 March 2019 held at the Conference Room of the University of the Philippines Los Banos (UPLB) Office of the Chancellor. Signatories from UPLB were Chancellor Fernando C. Sanchez, Jr., MCME Director Roberto G. Visco and CFNR Dean Willie P. Abasolo. While signatories from the DENR Region IV-A were OIC Regional Director Maria Paz G. Luna, Asst. Regional Director for Management Nelson V. Gorospe, Asst. Regional Director for Technical Services Arturo E. Fadriquella, and OIC-PENRO in Laguna, For. Ronilo Salac.

The project aims to strengthen the conservation and protection of the Mount Makiling Forest Reserve (MMFR) and its biodiversity against unlawful human activities due to illegal encroachment, poaching, and land conflict with the adjoining private lands along its boundary.

Present as witnesses in the MOU signing were For. Joselito R. Barile, Head of the External Linkages and Decision Support (ELDS) and For. Rolly V. Breva, Head of the Protection and Regulation Unit (PRU) with For. Emer C. Gestiada, Technical Assistant to the MCME Director and ten (10) PRU staff who will support the implementation of the project.
