Onsite Integrated Pest and Diseases Management Seminar for Mount Bulalo Farmers

On 11 June 2018, the Makiling Center for Mountain Ecosystems (MCME)  headed by For. Nicasio M. Balahadia, Head of the Social Forestry Division (SFD) of MCME and Project Leader of the project entitled: “An Indigenous Tree-Based Agroforestry Development Program in Mount Bulalo” conducted a seminar on “Onsite Integrated Pest and Diseases Management,” held in Sitio Bungahan, Barangay Limao, Calauan, Laguna.

A total of 40 farmers located in Barangay Bitin, Bay and Barangay Limao, Calauan in Laguna participated the seminar. The seminar focused on dealing with different pest and diseases of banana, coconut and selected cash crops present in the area. It aims to provide assistance to farmers to increase their yield.

The resources speakers who shared their experiences and expertise were Mr. Randolph N. Candano, Mr. Gideon Aries S. Burgonio, Mr. Melvin D. Ebuenga, Ms. Marcela M. Navasero and Ms. Melissa P. Navasero from the National Crop Protection Center (NCPC) of the College of Agricuture and Food Sciences (CAFS) of the University of the Philippines Los Banos (UPLB).

Also present in the seminar were For. Rolly V. Breva, For. Emer C. Gestiada, For. Leonardo D. Barua, For. Myranel S. Canceran, For. Mae Belen L. Putian, and Ms. Gillian Katherine Inciong.
