On April 1, 2025, the Makiling Botanic Gardens (MBG) welcomed delegates from the European Union and the Asia-Oceania Party as part of an environmental and cultural tour hosted by the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity (ACB).

A total of 30 delegates from both groups participated in the visit, where they were warmly received by Foresters Angela A. Limpiada and Alexis John T. Fajardo. The tour provided an in-depth exploration of the rich biodiversity within the MBG and, more significantly, the Mount Makiling Forest Reserve (MMFR). The foresters highlighted MBG’s theme gardens, the reserve’s unique flora and fauna, and its sustainable management under the stewardship of the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) through the Makiling Center for Mountain Ecosystems (MCME).

Beyond showcasing biodiversity, the tour underscored MMFR’s vital role as an ASEAN Heritage Park. Discussions focused on the importance of collaborative partnerships, sustainable ecotourism management, and future conservation initiatives aimed at preserving the ecological integrity of MMFR.

The visit reinforced MMFR’s significance in biodiversity conservation and sustainability efforts, strengthening international awareness and cooperation for environmental protection in the region.
