Through the partnership between the Philippine Geothermal Production Company, Inc. (PGPC) and the Makiling Center for Mountain Ecosystems (MCME), officials and constituents from Bokod, Benguet visited the Makiling Botanic Gardens (MBG) on 09 June 2023. The officials and constituents, led by Atty. Eric Don Ignacio, Municipal Vice Mayor of Bokod, was accompanied by some PGPC staff.
The visitors were welcomed and given a short lecture by Forester Nicasio M. Balahadia, the project coordinator of the Scaling Up the Community-Based Natural Resource Management in Four Watersheds of Mount Makiling Forest Reserve and Mount Bulalo Project funded by PGPC. In his lecture, he highlighted the importance of protecting and conserving mountain ecosystems through participatory approaches.
Shortly after, a tour of the gardens was facilitated by Forester Angela A. Limpiada, a University Extension Associate in MCME. The tour showcased the national species and the Philippinensis row in MBG.
