Estrella is an annual herbaceous plant commonly found in drain areas and paddies. It is being harvested from the wild for its medicinal and ornamental uses. Its leaves are simple, slightly hairy with serrated margins and short stalks while its fruits are like capsules slightly protruding from the calyx tube. The herb’s flowers are white, with five-lobed petals forming like a star. Borne singly at the tip of each leaf.

The sap of this plant is highly toxic and when absorbed through the skin will cause irritation and a burning sensation. Small amounts of sap in the eyes can cause blindness, especially in animals!
