Expanding Horizons, Batangas State University is Immersed in the Natural Resources of the Makiling Botanic Gardens

Batangas State University, Lobo Campus had an educational tour at the Makiling Botanic Gardens

Students from the Batangas State University, Lobo Campus, embarked on an educational tour at the Makiling Botanic Gardens (MBG) on 04 December 2025. This activity was part of their experiential learning visit in their forestry course to deepen their appreciation and understanding of the natural resources as a source of forest products. Visiting the garden expanded their understanding of various natural resources beyond those available on their campus.

Forester Alexis Fajardo from the Botanic Gardens Park and Ecotourism Division (BGPED) of the Makiling Center for Mountain Ecosystems (MCME),  provided an orientation on the vital role of Mount Makiling Forest Reserve and the Makiling Botanic Gardens as a scientific and ecotourism avenue. The group was then guided through the strategically designed themed gardens, which highlighted the endemicity of certain species, the benefits derived from forest products and by-products, and the conservation strategies implemented by the center. They also gained insights into the management techniques employed for sustainable forest management. (by For. Alexis John T. Fajardo, Photo courtesy of AALimpiada)
