MakiPinta 2025: Recreating Mount Makiling Forest Reserve with a stroke of a brush

MakiPinta was one of the activities of the week-long celebration of the 115th Anniversary of the Mount Makiling Forest Reserve (MMFR), which was held on 22 November 2025, at the Toyota Environment and Education Theatre, Makiling Botanic Gardens in the College of Forestry and Natural Resources (CFNR), University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB).

Thirty-two participants joined the activity, including UPLB students from various colleges, members of the UP Visual Artists, university staff, and their families.

For. Angela A. Limpiada welcomed the participants and introduced the resource speaker, Mr. Joel Angel A. Reyes, an artist and student of CFNR. Mr. Reyes delivered a lecture on the styles and techniques employed in art to depict the likeness of living things or the natural scenery. He also showed samples of his works as well as the diverse flora and fauna of the MMFR.

After the lecture, the participants were given time to explore the gardens and paint the subject they had selected.
