MCME conducted a Trail Assessment after Typhoon Ompong

A trail assessment in the Mariang Makiling Trail (MMT) of the Mount Makiling Forest Reserve ASEAN Heritage Park (MMFR AHP) was conducted last 18 September 2018. The Protection and Regulation Unit (PRU) headed by For. Rolly V. Breva of the Makiling Center for Mountain Ecosystems (MCME) sent a team headed by For. Arnulfo D. Yanoria to conduct a trail assessment. This ensures that the trail is safe for all the visitors who wishes to do trekking, hiking, sight-seeing, biking and other activities in the MMFR AHP.

Part of the trail assessment activity were as follows: clearing of the trail from fallen debris from Station 13 to Station 30; simple brushing; re-installation of markers (yellow ribbon) for the alternate route going to the peak; and installation of new danger signs.

As per assessment, the team reported that the trail was quite slippery thus, visitors needs to be more careful. In addition, signage were reported to be intact which will help and guide the visitors on their way to the peak and prevent visitors from being lost inside the MMFR AHP.

Present also during the trail assessment were For.Tech. Alexis D. Fajardo, For.Tech. Nick M. Manlisis, For. Aerosmith M. Masa,  Mr. Misael T. Palanginan, For.Tech. Yaser De Chavez, and For.Tech. Henry P. Pelegrina.
