On 13 February 2026, an assembly of local traders convened at the Makiling Rainforest Park within the Mount Makiling Forest Reserve (MMFR) in preparation for Make it Makiling! (MIM) 2026. Led by Forester Myranel Canceran, the meeting focused on updated operational standards, designated vending areas, and the university’s environmental safeguards. During the dialogue, Forester Analyn Malayba emphasized strict compliance with waste management protocols, specifically highlighting zero-littering policies, coordinated hauling schedules, and mandatory waste segregation. These measures reflect a commitment to responsible enterprise, ensuring a safe and ecologically sensitive experience for all visitors.
Complementing these environmental efforts, Security Officer Misael Palanginan, Chair of the Peace, Order, and Law Enforcement Committee, addressed logistical concerns regarding vehicle pass issuance, entry schedules, and policies for local community guests. The assembly concluded by reaffirming the shared responsibility of the Makiling Center for Mountain Ecosystems (MCME) and its stakeholders in maintaining an orderly, peaceful, and environmentally responsible MIM! 2026.
