The Makiling Center for Mountain Ecosystems (MCME) proudly announced the promotion of two staff members: University Researcher I Karla Jane P. Gonzalvo and University Extension Specialist II Mae Belen L. Putian. Both took their oaths of office, marking a significant milestone in their professional journeys within MCME.
For. Karla Jane P. Gonzalvo officially assumed her role as a University Researcher I during an oath-taking ceremony before Dr. Lerma SJ. Maldia, Director of MCME on 6 November 2024. For. Gonzalvo will be contributing her expertise to the Forest Watershed Division (FWD) of MCME, where she will support research initiatives focusing on watershed management and conservation. The ceremony was witnessed by Mrs. Ofelia F. Manasan, head of the General Administrative Services of MCME.
For. Mae Belen L. Putian also took her oath of office as a University Extension Specialist II before Dr. Lerma SJ. Maldia on 28 November 2024. For. Putian will join the Social Forestry Division (SFD) of MCME, where she will spearhead extension projects and community engagement initiatives. Her ceremony was attended by For. Myranel S. Canceran, head of the Extension Linkages and Decision Support (ELDS) Unit of MCME.
The MCME family extends its heartfelt congratulations to both For. Gonzalvo and For. Putian on their well-deserved promotions. Their commitment and contributions are invaluable in advancing the Center’s mission to promote sustainable management and conservation of forest ecosystems.
