Shooting stars is the Makiling Botanic Gardens (MBG) Plant of the Month (POM) for June 2020. The “shooting stars” or scientifically known as Hoya multiflora Blume belongs to family Apocynaceae. It is native and generally found in Indonesia, Borneo, Thailand and Philippines.
The leaves of the shooting stars are large, dark green, leathery and waxy.It usually blooms from March to July and you can surely notice it because it has a very strong scent.
TRIVIA: This plant is not poisonous but when eaten in large amount by animals like dogs and cats, it can make them ill.
