The Makiling Botanic Gardens presents “Tangisang bayawak” as the Plant of the Month for November 2018. Ficus variegata Blume, locally known as tangisang bayawak and sometimes referred to as red-stem fig belongs to family Moraceae. It is widely distributed in the Philippines, India, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Southern China, Thailand, Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, Java, Lesser Sunda Islands, and Sulawesi.
