The third Makiling Forum was held on 22 April 2016 at the A. V. Manza Room at CFNR with the topic on Mount Makiling Forest Reserve Buffer Zone. Forester Joselito R. Barile delivered the presentation focusing on the provisions of Proclamation 1257 of 1998 and extended to the recent information campaigns being conducted by MCME to further disseminate knowledge in the need for proper land use within the buffer zone.
The Makiling Forum was launched in November 2015. The forum serves as venue for information, knowledge and experience exchange about the Mt. Makiling Forest Reserve ASEAN Heritage Park (MMFR AHP). Experts share a 20-minute presentation followed by an open forum to further engage participants. Participants of the forum include students, faculty, and researchers among other interested individuals. The Makiling Forum is conducted every two months at the College of Forestry and Natural Resources (CFNR).
Topics tackled in previous Makiling Forum are Basic Principles of Ecotourism and MCME’s Initiatives Towards Ecotourism Development in MMFRAHP (For. Roberto P. Cereno and Dr. Rogelio Andrada II); Forest Canopy Observation, Positioning, and Investigation Program (Dr. Manuel L. Castillo); and Buffer Zone Management of the MMFR (For. Joselito R. Barile).
