On 16 August 2025, the Makiling Center for Mountain Ecosystems (MCME), through its Corporate Partnership for Environmental Restoration Program, welcomed UAM Philippines Inc. (UPI) in a tree planting activity at the Mount Makiling Forest Reserve (MMFR).
Led by UPI President Mr. Hiroshi Enomoto, a total of 120 staff and officials participated in the event, contributing to the restoration of open areas within the reserve. Volunteers planted seedlings of native and endemic tree species, including Narra (Pterocarpus indicus Willd.), Lamog (Planchonia spectabilis Merr.), and White Lauan (Pentacme paucinervis Brandis).
More than just a one-day activity, the collaboration between MCME and UPI is part of a four-year partnership that goes beyond tree planting. The agreement includes site monitoring, maintenance, and nurturing of the seedlings to ensure their survival and growth. By committing to long-term care, UPI’s efforts are expected to make a lasting contribution to the ecological restoration of Mount Makiling.
