On 17 February 2018, the Ube Media, Inc. conducted “treenewal”along the boundary of the Mount Makiling Forest Reserve ASEAN Heritage Park (MMFR AHP) at Brgy. Puting Lupa, Calamba City, Laguna. Treenewal is a word coined by the Ube Media which means renewal of their commitment and partnership with the Makiling Center for Mountain Ecosystems (MCME) for the boundary tree planting project in MMFR. They started in 2013 and had monitored and nurtured the tree planting site for five (5) years. With this “treenewal,” Ube Media, Inc. signified to continue doing the monitoring and tree nurturing in the boundary tree planting site.
Among the activities they have conducted were site maintenance and fertilizer application to about 2,000 flowering tree species planted in the site. This includes Alibangbang (Bauhinia malabarica Roxb), Banaba (Lagerstroemia speciosa (L.) Pers. and Palawan cherry (Cassia nodosa L.). These flowering tree species have purple colored flowers that symbolizes the color of Ube Media.
About 100 Ube Media staff attended the event headed by President Donna May Lina-Flavier. Also present during the event were Mr. & Mrs. Alberto Lina of Lina’s Group of Company, MCME Director Roberto G. Visco, Deputy Director Rogelio T. Andrada II and MCME staff.
