On 02 March 2019, the UBE Media, Inc. has conducted its 7th TREENEWAL in their boundary tree planting project in Mount Makiling Forest Reserve ASEAN Heritage Park (MMFR AHP) at Brgy. Puting Lupa, Calamba City, Laguna. TREENEWAL is UBE Media’s term for a yearly conduct of maintenance activities such as ring weeding, fertilizer application and other necessary activities to ensure continuous growth of the planted seedlings. It is also their way of renewing their commitment with nature as well as partnership with the local government unit (LGU) of Brgy. Puting Lupa and the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) through the Makiling Center for Mountain Ecosystems (MCME), College of Forestry and Natural Resources(CFNR).
About 50 volunteers from Lina’s Group of Companies led by UBE Media’s President Ms. Donna May Lina-Flavier participated in the TREENEWAL. All the volunteers excitedly climbed up along the boundary of MMFR AHP and looked for their assigned stations to fertilize the seedlings found within their area. About 1,500 seedlings and saplings of Alibangbang (Bauhinia malabarica Roxb) and Banaba [Lagerstroemia speciosa (L.) Pers.] were fertilized during the activity.
Also present during the TREENEWAL were UBE Media Co-Founder Mrs. Sylvia Lina, Brgy. Kagawad of Puting Lupa Dionisio Y. Locaberte and MCME Deputy Director Rogelio T. Andrada II.
