The Makiling Center for Mountain Ecosystems (MCME) conducted “Ugnayang Pamayanan” last February 28, 2018 at the Barangay Hall of Barangay Tranca, Bay, Laguna. The activity was headed by the Social Forestry Division of the center.
It was attended by 18 participants represented by barangay officials and farmers residing at the barangay. The first part of the activity was a short video presentation about the activities of the center. The second part was a forum regarding the issues and concern by the farmers about Mount Makiling Forest Reserve (MMFR). Issues and concerns raised during the activity were revival of Deputized Environmental and Natural Resources Officer (DENRO) to protect the reserve, support on alternative livelihood, and technical assistance on good farming practices.
Present during the activity were: For. Nicasio M. Balahadia, Head of the Social Forestry Division of MCME, Mr. Benjamin D. Arizala, For. Myranel S. Canceran, Mr. Nick M. Manlisis and Ms. Gillian Katherine L. Inciong. The Deputy Director of MCME, Dr. Rogelio T. Andrada II was also present during the activity.
