Delegates from the University of South Wales (USW), United Kingdom, visited the Makiling Botanic Gardens (MBG) on September 4, 2025, as part of their academic engagement with the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) Institute of Human Nutrition and Food, College of Human Ecology.
The visiting team included Dr. Wallace, Professor for Innovation and Engagement; Dr. Filipponi, Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA) and Senior Lecturer in Human Nutrition; and Dr. Thomas, Senior Lecturer in Adult Health, all from USW’s Faculty of Life Sciences and Education.
The group was welcomed by Forester Angela A. Limpiada, who led a tour of the MBG. She showcased the rich diversity of native and endemic plant species conserved within the garden and underscored their ecological and cultural significance.
The visit provided an opportunity to exchange insights on Philippine biodiversity, highlighting its critical role in research, conservation, and education.
