Shorea contorta Vidal commonly known as the “White Lauan” is the Makiling Botanic Gardens’ Plant of the Month of November. White Lauan belongs to family Dipterocarpaceae also known as the Philippine Mahogany Group. It is endemic to the Philippines. It was named as the “Sentinel Tree” by the University of the Philippines Los Banos (UPLB) Heritage Committee in 2008.
