Welcome 2019! To start this year, the Makiling Botanic Gardens (MBG) would like to present “almaciga” as its Plant of the Month (POM) for January. Agathis philippinensis Warb., popularly known as almaciga or dayungon in tagalog belongs to family Araucariaceae. It is native to the Philippines, Sulawesi and Halmahera.
The wood of almaciga is of excellent quality and highly priced. It exudes resin called manila copal. Come, visit and explore MBG and find this amazing tree!
