Voacanga megacarpa Merr. also known as “Bayag-aso” is the Makiling Botanic Gardens Plant of the Month for October 2019. Bayag-aso belongs to family Apocynaceae endemic in the Philippines.
Bayag-aso has a wide range of uses. It can be used as medicine to a variety of illnesses (i.e. bark, roots) and it produces chicle – a natural sap used in making chewing gum.
Bayag-aso can be seen in the MBG, so come and visit us and know more about this endemic plant!
