Two focus group discussions (FGD) were conducted on 1 and 15 July 2016 at the F. L. Rola Room in the College of Forestry and Natural Resources (CFNR). The FGDs were sponsored by the Makiling Center for Mountain Ecosystems (MCME) and the Forestry Development Center (FDC).

The FGD is an offshoot of the review on existing policies in the Mount Makiling Forest Reserve vis-à-vis geothermal energy production and management. Among the topics discussed were policy conflicts in geothermal energy projects implementation.

The objectives of this activity are to capture the perspectives, opinions, and points of view of various stakeholders of the Mount Makiling Forest Reserve ASEAN Heritage Park (MMFR AHP) in regards to effects and impacts of resources extraction, utilization, management, and protection of resources provided by the reserve.

A total of 38 participants attended the two FGDs with representatives from Bay, Calauan, and Sto Tomas LGUs, National Power Corporation (NPC), Environmental Management Bureau (EMB)-Lalakay, APRI, Philippine Geothermal Power Corporation (PGPC), Maibarara Geothermal Inc.
