Forester Putian Bags Second Place in 3-Minute Thesis Competition

The University of British Columbia, Faculty of Forestry organized the Asia-Pacific Young Scientists Association 3-Minute Thesis Competition which was participated by different undergraduate and graduate students. During the initial screening, On 8 November 2022, 5:00 PM Pacific Standard Time, 18 semi-finalists were chosen from 12 Asia-Pacific Universities. This was further narrowed down to 9 finalists. Competition finals happened on 24 November 2022, 5:00 PM PST. The competition were judged by Dr. Agni Klintuni Boedhihartono, Dr. Feng Jiang, and Dr. John Innes.

For. Mae Belen L. Putian, a PhD candidate and University Research Associate at Makiling Center for Mountain Ecosystems, bagged the second place for her Dissertation with the topic “Valuation of Culture and Heritage for Mount Makiling Forest Reserve”. Her major adviser is Dr. Margaret M. Calderon of the Institute of Renewable Natural Resources at the College of Forestry and Natural Resources, University of the Philippines Los Baños.
