The Makiling Botanic Gardens (MBG) of the Makiling Center for Mountain Ecosystems (MCME) chooses one plant to be featured every month. The Plant of the Month (POM) project of MBG started its conceptualization in 2014. It generally aims to stir up interest in the plants found inside the Mount Makiling Forest Reserve ASEAN Heritage Park (MMFR AHP). Further, the project promotes the plants that are found at MBG and give more information to visitors related to the plant. Typically, plants that are in bloom are being chosen but after two years of doing this, it was expanded to other plants even though they are not in bloom.
