Dracaena angustifolia Roxb. also known as “malasambal” is the Makiling Botanic Gardens (MBG) Plant of the Month for July 2020. Malasambal belongs to family Ruscaceae distributed throughout East Asian countries.
Malasambal is an evergreen shrub that grow near rivers and streams. It has a long yellowish flower and bears an orange berry. The leaves and fruits of malasambal can be use as food and medicine.
TRIVIA: The leaves of malasambal is popular in Southeast Asia as source of green food color.
