The Makiling Botanic Gardens presents “Medinilla” as the Plant of the Month for January 2018. Medinilla copelandii Merr. or popularly known as big fruited medinilla belongs to family Melastomataceae. It is endemic to the Philippines. It is a very unusual type of medinilla because its flowers are attached to the main stem not in the panicles on the branches.
