Australian Ambassador to the Philippines Mr. Steven Robinson Planted a Tree in the Makiling Botanic Gardens

Last 28 February 2019, Australian Ambassador to the Philippines Mr. Steven Robinson graced the Southern Tagalog Alumni Networking Event held in the Makiling Botanic Gardens (MBG) Pavilion. The event has a theme: Connect, Mobilise and Celebrate. Connect the alumni, mobilise them through different project implementations that aims to elevate the condition of the Filipino children and sustainable management and conservation of the environment, and celebrate the alumni awardees and recipients of grants.

Around fifty (50) distinguished alumni and guests attended the event. Dr. Roberto G, Visco, Director of the Makiling Center for Mountain Ecosystems (MCME) and his staff were full force to welcome and assist the guests in the said event.

One of the highlights of the event was the ceremonial tree planting of his excellency Australian Ambassador to the Philippines Mr. Steven Robinson who planted Canarium ovatum locally known as Pili in the Native Tree Species Theme Gardens of MBG. Also, General Benjamin Madrigal Jr., Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), an alumnus and a native of Laguna participated in the tree planting and planted Alstonia scholaris locally known as Dita. He also gave and delivered his keynote speech during the program.
