Environmental literacy through field exposure: Brightwoods International School explored Makiling Botanic Gardens

Brightwoods International School explored Makiling Botanic Gardens

On 02 February 2026, the Makiling Botanic Gardens (MBG) hosted students from Brightwoods International School. Educators for Nature Tourism (ENTs) led the group, beginning with stretching exercises before embarking on a trek along the MBG EcoTrail. The trail highlights significant forest species and ecological functions, emphasizing the roles of reforestation and sustainable resource management to deepen the students’ understanding of biodiversity conservation. After navigating the closed canopies of the Dipterocarp Arboretum, the Natural Forest, and the Molave Plantation, the group returned to the MBG Circle. This field exposure served as a practical application of their lesson on environmental science. (Article and photo by For. Alexis Fajardo)
