On 11 August, the verdant forest and rich biodiversity of the Mount Makiling Forest Reserve (MMFR) welcomed the Philippine Commission on Sports Scuba Diving (PCSSD) during their visit to the Makiling Botanic Gardens (MBG). The group was guided through the site by Forester Alexis John T. Fajardo, who showcased the beauty and ecological significance of the gardens.
The visit underscored PCSSD’s commitment to promoting responsible tourism and fostering environmental appreciation. Immersing themselves in the lush forest, the team explored towering canopies, themed gardens, and curated collections of native plant species that highlight the Philippines’ unique flora.
The PCSSD lauded the MBG as both an ex-situ conservation site and a nature-based tourism destination, recognizing its role in safeguarding biodiversity and advancing environmental education. Their engagement reflects a shared mission to protect the country’s natural resources. Likewise, bridging the conservation of marine and terrestrial ecosystems in a holistic approach to environmental stewardship.
